How to use this checklist

Most failed inspections come down to small, avoidable issues. Walk around your car and tick each item you can confirm is fine. The score shows how ready you are, and anything you leave unticked moves into the “check before you go” list with a quick fix.

Why a pre-check is worth it

A failed test means a repair and a return trip. Five minutes checking lights, tyres, tint and warning lights catches the most common problems before they cost you time. When you're ready, find a centre by emirate or by brand, and read the full inspection guide.

FAQ

Does passing this checklist guarantee my car will pass the official test?

No. This covers the issues that most often cause a fail, but the official inspection is more detailed. Use it to catch obvious problems before you travel.

What are the most common reasons cars fail in the UAE?

Blown bulbs, worn tyres, dashboard warning lights, illegal window tint, fluid leaks and outstanding fines are among the most common.

Is window tint really checked?

Yes. The UAE limits how dark side and rear windows can be (commonly up to 50%), and the front windscreen must be clear. Over-tint is a frequent fail.

What happens if my car fails?

The centre lists what to fix. You repair those items and return for a re-check, usually within a set window and often at a reduced cost. See our car passing guide.
