Shamil vehicle testing: branches, booking and retests

Shamil is Emarat's vehicle testing and registration service. Emarat describes services linked to both Dubai's RTA and the Ministry of Interior, so your registration emirate matters when choosing a branch and completing the paperwork.

Find a named Shamil branch

Emarat's published branch table gives separate locations and contact details for these centres:

• Dubai: Al Qusais, Al Adheed in Bur Dubai, Nad Al Hammar and Muhaisnah.
• Umm Al Quwain: Shamil UAQ.
• Fujairah: Shamil Fujairah.

Use the named branch's inspection details. A fuel station or Fasttrack workshop at a similarly named site does not, by itself, confirm a Shamil inspection lane. For a branch not shown in Emarat's table, check its inspection service and exact location with the operator before travelling.

Dubai appointments and Northern Emirates visits

For a Dubai Shamil inspection, use RTA's inspection service, choose Start Now, then select the vehicle, test, centre and slot. The RTA Dubai app is another booking channel. Our RTA appointment guide explains the steps.

RTA requires bookings for registration, renewal and export-with-plates inspections. It lists exceptions for failed-test reinspections, specified sale and data checks, export without plates, and eligible senior or People of Determination vehicles registered in Dubai. Check the official terms for your visit.

Do not apply those Dubai rules to UAQ or Fujairah. Confirm local admission arrangements and vehicle eligibility with the selected branch. For Northern Emirates registration transactions, follow the Ministry of Interior or responsible traffic authority's service requirements.

Shamil's published test and retest fees

Emarat's service page publishes different fees for Dubai and the Northern Emirates:

• Dubai: AED 170 for the first test and AED 70 for a retest.
• Northern Emirates: AED 150 for the first test, a free retest within 15 days and AED 50 after that.

These are Shamil's published terms, not a UAE-wide fee rule or a quote for every vehicle class. Confirm the applicable test, total charge and eligible retest branch before returning. Keep the failed report so the centre can identify the original test. See retest preparation and deadlines for more help.

Inspection and renewal are separate steps

Passing the test does not renew your Mulkiya. You still need to complete the registration transaction and meet the authority's insurance, document and payment requirements. Emarat also advertises registration assistance and insurance services, but check that the chosen branch can handle your particular transaction.

If you only need a technical inspection, say so. If you are buying a vehicle, ask for the report needed for ownership transfer rather than requesting a renewal by mistake. Read the vehicle transfer test guide before arranging the sale.
